Sixth Sunday of Easter

Sextus Dominicus Paschae

When now, in music, God is glorified, and adoration leaves no room for pride.

It is as though the whole creation cried:  alleluia.

Then, once upon a bitter afternoon, HIS Passion ended in a stone-cold tomb,

and the apostles hid in upper room, alleluia.

But on the third day, in the morning hour, as Mary came to Tomb to place a flower

Christ had risen by HIS Divine Power, alleluia.

Let every instrument be tuned for praise, let all rejoice who have a voice to raise,

and may God give us strength to say always “alleluia.”

For did not Jesus sing a psalm that night, when deep hell strove against Heaven’s light

and did not Christ prevail throughout the fight?  Alleluia.

Praised now be God the FATHER, and the SON, and HOLY GHOST, Trinity ever one.

For Christ has triumphed and HIS course has run, alleluia.

ANTIPHON:         Proclaim a joyful sound and let it be heard, proclaim to the ends of the Earth:

the LORD has freed HIS people, alleluia (cf. Isaiah 48:20)

Let the whole creation cry alleluia.  Glory to the LORD MOST HIGH, alleluia.

Heaven and Earth:  awake and sing alleluia.  Praise the EVERLASTING KING, alleluia.

Praise HIM all ye hosts above, alleluia – ever bright and fair in love, alleluia.

Sun and Moon, lift up your voice, alleluia.  Night and stars:  in God, rejoice, alleluia.

All you faithful to the LORD, alleluia, loud, proclaim the risen WORD, alleluia.

You that, to the LORD, belong, alleluia, raise to HIM this glorious song:  alleluia.

All with knowledge of HIS Law, alleluia, to the saintly circle draw, alleluia.

All whose path for Heaven aim, alleluia, praise the LORD, acclaim HIS NAME, alleluia.

Men and women, young and old, alleluia, raise the anthem manifold, alleluia.

Let the children’s happy hearts, alleluia, in HIS worship, take their parts, alleluia.

From the North to Southern pole, alleluia, let HIS mighty chorus roll, alleluia.

Holy, holy, holy ONE, alleluia, glory be to God alone, alleluia.

Acts of the Apostles 8:5-8, 14-17

Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed the Christ to them. With one accord, the crowds paid attention to what was said by Philip when they heard it and saw the signs he was doing. For unclean spirits, crying out in a loud voice, came out of many possessed people, and many paralyzed or crippled people were cured. There was great joy in that city. Now when the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent them Peter and John, who went down and prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit, for it had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit

Psalms 66: 1-7, 16, 20        Let all the Earth cry out to God with joy.

Shout joyfully to God, all the Earth,
sing praise to the glory of HIS NAME;
proclaim HIS glorious praise.
Say to God, “How tremendous are YOUR deeds!”

“Let all on earth worship and sing praise to YOU,
sing praise to YOUR NAME!”
Come and see the works of God,
HIS tremendous deeds among the children of Adam.

HE has changed the sea into dry land;
through the river they passed on foot;
therefore let us rejoice in HIM.
HE rules by HIS might forever.

Hear now, all you who fear God, while I declare
what HE has done for me.
Blessed be God who refused me not
my prayer or HIS kindness!

First Saint Peter 3:15-18

Beloved: sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope, but do it with gentleness and reverence, keeping your conscience clear, so that, when you are maligned, those who defame your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame. For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that be the will of God, than for doing evil. For Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the sake of the unrighteous, that he might lead you to God. Put to death in the flesh, he was brought to life in the Spirit.

Christ the LORD is Risen Today

Christ the LORD is risen today; Christians, haste your vows to pay.

Make your joy and praises known at the PASCHAL VICTIM’S Throne.

For the sheep, the LAMB has bleed, sinless in the sinner’s stead.

Christ the LORD is risen on high, now HE lives no more to die.

Christ the VICTIM undefiled, God and sinners reconciled,

When in strange and awful strife, met together death and life.

Christians on this happy day, haste with joy your vows to pay.

Christ the LORD is risen on high, now HE lives no more to die.

Hallowed, this the dawn of praise, Easter – queen of all our days;

From all compass points come forth:  East and West and South and North.

Let the peoples praise YOU, LORD; be, by all that is, adored.

Let all nations shout and sing:  glory, praise the PASCHAL KING.

Say, O wondering Mary, say what you saw along the way:

I beheld where Christ was lain:  empty Tomb and angels twain.

I beheld the glory, bright, of the risen LORD of light,

Christ, my LORD is risen again; now HE lives and lives to reign.

Christ, WHO once, for sinners bled, now the firstborn from the dead.

Throned in endless might and power, lives and reigns forevermore.

Hail, ETERNAL HOPE on high, hail our King of Victory.

Hail, THOU Prince of Life adored.  Help and save us, gracious LORD.

Alleluia, ALLELUIA, Alleluia, ALLELUIA, Alleluia, ALLELUIA

Whoever loves ME will keep MY Word, says the LORD;

and MY FATHER will love him and WE will come to him. (John 14:23).

Alleluia, ALLELUIA, Alleluia, ALLELUIA, Alleluia, ALLELUIA

Saint John 14:15-21

Jesus said to his disciples: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows him. But you know him, because he remains with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me, because I live and you will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father and you are in me and I in you. Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”

New songs of celebration render to God WHO has great wonders done.

Love sits enthrones in ageless splendor, come and adore the MIGHTY ONE.

God has made know the great salvation, which all the saints with joy confess.

God has revealed to every nation Truth and unending righteousness.

Joyfully, heartily resounding, let every instrument and voice,

Peal out the praise of grace abounding calling the whole world to rejoice.

Trumpets and organs set in motion such sounds as make the Heavens ring.

All things that live and Earth & ocean sound forth the song, your praises bring.

Rivers and seas with torrents roaring, honor the LORD with wild acclaim.

Mountains and stones, look up adoring, and find a voice to praise HIS Name.

Righteous, commanding, ever glorious, praises be sung that never cease.

Just is our God, WHOSE Truth victorious establishes the world in peace.

ANTIPHON:         If you love ME, keep MY commandments, says the LORD,

and I will ask the FATHER and HE will send you another Paraclete

to abide with you for ever, alleluia (John 14:15-16)

Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven, to HIS feet your tribute bring.

Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, ever more HIS praises sing.

Alleluia, alleluia.  Praise the everlasting King.

Praise HIM for HIS grace and favor to HIS people in distress.

Praise HIM still the same as ever:  slow to chide and swift to bless,

Alleluia, alleluia, glorious in HIS faithfulness.

Father-like, HE tends and spares us; well, our feeble frame, HE knows.

In HIS Hands HE gently bears us, rescues of from all our foes.

Alleluia, alleluia.  Widely yet, HIS mercy flows.

Frail as summer’s flower we flourish, blows the wind and it is gone,

But, while mortals rise and perish, God endures, unchanging, on.

Alleluia, alleluia.  Praise the high, eternal ONE.

Angels, help us to adore HIM, you behold Him face to face.

Sun and moon, bow down before HIM; dwellers, all, in time and space.

Alleluia, alleluia.  Praise with us the God of grace.

Joyful, joyful, we adore THEE, God of glory, LORD of love.

Heart unfold like flowers before YOU, opening to the Sun above.

Melt the clouds of sin and sadness, drive the dark of doubt away.

GIVER OF ETERNAL GLADNESS, fill us with the Light of Day.

All THY works with joy surround THEE, Earth and Heaven reflect THY rays.

Star and angels sing around THEE, center of unbroken praise.

Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea,

Chanting bird and flowing fountain:  sound praise to eternity!

THOU are giving and forgiving, ever blessing, ever blest,

God our FATHER, Christ our Brother, let YOUR Light upon us shine.

Teach us now to love each other, lift us to the joy divine.

Mortals, join the happy chorus, which the morning stars began;

God’s own love is reigning over us, join the angels hand-in-hand.

Ever singing, march we onward, victors in the midst of strife.

Joyful music leads us sun-ward in the triumph song of life.

from First Saint Peter 1:8

Refrain:       Without seeing YOU, we love YOU.

Without touching YOU, we embrace.

Without knowing YOU, we follow.

Without seeing YOU, we believe.

We return to YOU deep within, leave the past to the dust.

Turn to YOU with tears and fasting, YOU are ready to forgive.

The sparrow will find a home, near to YOU, O my God.

How happy we who dwell with YOU forever in YOUR House.

For ever we sing to YOU, of YOUR goodness, O God,

Proclaiming to all the world of YOUR faithfulness and love.

For YOU are our SHEPHERD, there is nothing that we need.

In green pastures we will find our rest, near the waters of YOUR peace.
