HYMN: Mary First Among Believers

VERSE ONE:

Mary, first among believers,

trusting in the angel’s word,

you consented, and conceiving,

became mother of the Lord.

Mother now of all believers,

give our fragile faith increase,

may we, trusting in God’s promise,

doubts and useless fears release.

VERSE TWO:

Mary first among the exiles,

seeking refuge in the night,

you left home with spouse and infant,

fleeing Herod’s sword in fright.

Mother now of all the exiles,

give them sleep without alarm,

give them clothing, food, and shelter,

keep them safe and free from harm.

VERSE THREE:

Mary first among disciples,

listening, learning from your Son,

you held dear His words and actions,

pondering each, forgetting none.

Mother now of all disciples,

help us listen day by day,

open to the Spirit’s prompting,

help us follow Jesus’ way.

VERSE FOUR:

Mary, first among the suffering,

standing, bowed, beneath the Cross,

you knew all the pain and anguish

of oppression, grief, and loss.

Mother now of all the suffering,

help us show compassion’s face,

may the victims of injustice

know, through us, His love and grace.

VERSE FIVE:

Mary first among the blessed,

robed in Heaven’s beauty, bright,

you rejoice with saints and angels

in your Son’s resplendent light.

Mother now of all the blessed,

make your pilgrim people strong,

keep us faithful, until we join you

praising God in endless song.

HYMN: Song of Mary

VERSE ONE

Let us sing the praises of Mary, daughter of David’s holy line,

She who heard the voice of an angel telling the plan of God’s design,

How in Wisdom’s holy sight she would mother Heaven’s Christ.

Refrain:  blessed be the name of Mary, she who trusted the love of God.

VERSE TWO:

Let us sing the praises of Mary, chosen as blessed from the least,

She who heard the song of the angels filling the night with Heaven’s peace.

When the promised time had come, she gave birth to God’s own Son. (refrain)

VERSE THREE:

Let us sing the praises of Mary, woman of strong and steadfast love,

She who raises the Savior of nations, held in her arms the Son of God,

She who knew the Father’s grace, taught her Son to know God’s face (refrain)

VERSE FOUR:

Let us sing the praises of Mary, pierced by the sword of sorrow’s pain,

She who saw her Son and her Savior, nailed on the Cross to die in shame.

Though His friends would flee in fear, she remained forever near (refrain)

VERSE FIVE:

Let us sing the praises of Mary, friend of the poor in every age.

She who saw her Son and her Savior risen in glory from the grave.

Sin and death shall reign no more, Christ has opened Heaven’s door (refrain)

HYMN:  Sing We of the Blessed Mother

VERSE ONE:

Sing we of the Blessed Mother, who received the angel’s word,

And obedient to the summons bore in love the infant Lord.

Sing we of the joys of Mary, at whose breast that Child was fed,

Who is Son of God Eternal and the everlasting Bread.

VERSE TWO:

Sing we too of Mary’s sorrows, of the sword that pierced her through,

When beneath the Cross of Jesus, she His weight of suffering, knew.

Looked upon her Son and Savior, reigning from the awful Tree,

Saw the price of our redemption paid to set all sinners free.

VERSE THREE:

Sing again the joys of Mary, when she saw the risen Lord,

And in prayer with Christ’s apostles waited on His promised Word.

From on high the blazing glory of the Spirit’s presence came.

Heavenly breath of God’s own being tokened in the wind and flame.

VERSE FOUR:

Sing the greatest joy of Mary, when on Earth her work was done.

And the Lord of all creation brought her to His heavenly home.

Virgin Mother, Mary blessed, raised on high and crowned with grace.

May your Son, the world’s Redeemer, grant us all to see His face.

HYMN:  The Angel Gabriel from Heaven Came

And Christian fold throughout the world shall ever say:  most highly favored lady.  Gloria.
