A series of Regional Ministry Gatherings will be held in January and February on the 2023 World Synod of Bishops and the local synodal process in which Pope Francis has asked every diocese in the world to participate.


These 30-to-45-minute gatherings are FREE and will be held virtually via Zoom. Wednesday, Jan. 26 11:00 a.m. Kristin Colberg The Heart of the Synod: What is a synod and why are we having one now? Local professor and theologian Kristin Colberg, the sole U.S. member of the synod’s international theological commission, shares her experience in working with the global synod team and helps us understand the long-term value of the synodal process.

Our Impact on the Synod: Why does it matter locally? After hearing about the heart of the synod in the first session, member of the diocesan synod team Philip Shefveland will explore how the information we share through the synod process will have a lasting effect right here in our diocese.

Member of the diocesan synod team Toni Hudock will discuss how everyone can get involved and have their voice be heard. She will also unpack the consultation process so you know what to expect in the upcoming conversations.
